This conversation was with my boyfriend while getting dressed to take pictures:

Me: Should I wear this crop top or a ribbed tank?

Boyfriend: Wear the tank.

Me: What makes you say that?

BF: I don’t know? Wear what you want.

Me: So what you’re saying is you don’t think I look good in this crop top?

BF: I didn’t say that.

Me: Then how can you tell me to wear something you haven’t seen me in yet?

BF: Wear the crop top!

We went back and forth with this conversation for awhile. In the end, I let his answer stop me from wearing it. Or did I let my insecurity keep me from wearing it?

He never once said not to wear the crop top, he just suggested wearing the tank top. I will never know why he told me to wear the tank top without seeing how it looked first. He probably doesn’t know why he said it either. Maybe he doesn’t  think crop tops ook good on me but that’s not for me to figure out.

I know he loves me, my mind, my soul, my body, and my style. He encourages me to express myself and wear what I want. He is my biggest fan, and I love him for that. I don’t need him to validate what I am wearing to feel confident in it though.

What I need to figure out, is why I let his comment stop me from wearing the damn crop top when I thought I looked good in it? Maybe I really didn’t think so? Who knows, maybe I was having a moment of insecurity, and his response was an excuse to confirm it?

Although I am very choosy how I style crop tops; I still wear them. Whether it’s with shapewear, the perfect fitting pair of high waisted jeans or a loose fitting duster, kimono, or sweater.

It doesn’t matter how or what you wear to make yourself feel good in your clothing. The important thing is that you are comfortable and confident in it no matter what anyone says.

Have you ever allowed someone’s opinion to stop you from doing or wearing something you wanted? I would love to hear your thoughts/experience.

It is official, in two years I will turn the big 3-0! I am trying to convince myself to look at it from a “fine wine” perspective. Guess I will have to fake it til I make it. Am I the only one having a slight panic attack about this?

On a lighter note, I was happy to spend my twenty-eighth birthday in San Francisco. I love walking  around the city and taking pictures. I finally had the chance to visit  Miette pastry shop, and stopped by Bi-Rite Market for a few groceries. It was pouring rain which I loved but it would stop every time we needed it to. It was perfect! That city takes my breath away every time.

Where do you go when you want to take a quick little trip? Most importantly, what do you wear? I am the worst at over packing. What is in your getaway bag?

Happy New Years Eve! Have fun and stay safe.
