If there is one thing, I know for sure, it’s dressing my body. If you have a visible belly line (VBL) like I do you are probably aware that no matter how good the shapewear is- our stomachs will not magically disappear. There is no reason to feel as if we should hide it. If you want to flaunt it, do it! If you feel like camouflaging it, do it! All that matters is you do what makes YOU feel good.

Having a VBL may require a little more effort in some of the styles we want to wear, but it’s worth it. The best tip I can give you is to learn yourself and your body. Regardless of your body type, learn what makes you feel confident, comfortable, and sexy. Dress for your individual body and authentic style.

Ten Tips For Dressing VBL’s

-Tailoring

-Shapewear

-Posture (good posture will take you further than you may think)

-Proper fitting bra (helps define the waist)

-Quality fabric

-Pleating (I love a good pleat in the tummy area)

-High waisted fitted pants (holds those love handles in perfectly)

-Boxy/loose crop tops (think symmetry)

-Know your angles (this will come in handy for photo op’s)

-Experiment, Experiment, Experiment

My #LBD (little black dress) is not so “little.” In my case, this is more of a “big” black dress. If you google #LittleBlackDress, images of thin (little) women wearing their LBD’s appear. I may have seen one girl that was bigger. I think it would be nice to dedicate a hashtag like #BigBlackDress to use in pictures we take of our black dresses. #BBD has enough different meanings, so that’s out.

I am big, I #CelebrateMySize and #honormycurves with pride. It is an amazingly free feeling to accept the skin you are in. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a healthier, greater you. Accepting the body you have now is what is most important, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

You can always count on ASOS to acquire the essentials for your wardrobe. Every lady should have at least one #BigBlackDress or (depending on your size) #LittleBlackDress in their closet. Trust me, a black dress can always save you from “I don’t know what to wear” mishaps.

P.S
I newly discovered how beneficial shapewear could be; it gives you that extra boost of confidence, particularly when wearing bodycon fits!
