It is official, in two years I will turn the big 3-0! I am trying to convince myself to look at it from a “fine wine” perspective. Guess I will have to fake it til I make it. Am I the only one having a slight panic attack about this?

On a lighter note, I was happy to spend my twenty-eighth birthday in San Francisco. I love walking  around the city and taking pictures. I finally had the chance to visit  Miette pastry shop, and stopped by Bi-Rite Market for a few groceries. It was pouring rain which I loved but it would stop every time we needed it to. It was perfect! That city takes my breath away every time.

Where do you go when you want to take a quick little trip? Most importantly, what do you wear? I am the worst at over packing. What is in your getaway bag?

Happy New Years Eve! Have fun and stay safe.

Took pictures with my mom for her birthday to post on my blog. She wasn’t too pleased with her “debut” on here so I thought I would make it up to her. Love you momma, you are beautiful.

I fell in love with these powder-blue suede mules and rusty pink turban from River Island; it is very 50’s housewife-chic to me. The destroyed denim makes for a more casual vibe. Wore this to lunch and a quick photo shoot with my honey.

I am not sure how much longer I’ll be able to get away with wearing open toe heels with winter right around the corner, but I plan to push it as far as I can. No one likes a quitter, right?

Are you ready for the holiday season?

I don’t think this is the debut she wanted, but here you go mom.

I thought it would be cute to post this look today since it is Halloween! What is more “Halloween-ey” than black and orange? I threw this on to meet my mom for an impromptu dinner date. I could go for another bowl of that Pho right about now.

I am wearing Forever 21 plus size pants, and top. The sandals are from TOPSHOP.

Happy Halloween, stay safe.

My new mission in life is to refine my personal style and stay relevant at the same time. I am half kidding, half serious. Maybe that is not the most practical goal for a “life mission” but it is what it is.

I rue the day when I look back at pictures 20 years from now and say to myself “what was I wearing”. I am sure it is inevitable, but I will try to avoid it at all costs.

Happy Tuesday!

Came across these photos from our last day in San Francisco! I am ready for another fix, I love that city. I feel like I’m in another world when we are there.

Hopefully Los Angeles is next, if it was closer I would be there all the time. Soon enough, I will make the City of Angeles my permanent residence. I’ve wanted to live in Los Angeles since I was about 10 years old. As long as I am there by 30 I’ll be good! Do you have a “dream” city you would like to live in?

Happy Friday!

There are a lot of people (especially fuller figured women) who are not active in the fashion/blogging world that aren’t aware of all the resources and inspiration available online. I know ordering from the internet can be intimidating, but unfortunately, a lot of retail stores are not as fashion forward in the plus size department as we would like. I understand ordering something online not knowing how it fits can be scary. However, once you find THAT item, it is so worth it. Also, most online stores offer free return shipping, if you’re not sure read the shipping info before placing an order.

This top is a men’s cycling jersey from some random website in China. I could not find anything similar in stores (that fit) or from my “go to” online retailers (listed below). At first I was skeptical to give my credit card number, but I am happy I did. The jacket is exactly what I wanted.

Here is a quick list of blogs and websites I use for inspiration and of course shopping!

I am not sure if I have ever made my goal clear for this blog but I want to briefly say that my intent is to empower women and encourage them to express themselves in a way that is authentic and true to self.  Allowing society or friends and family to dictate what to wear and not to wear is  easy to do but not good for our souls. It is time to do what make us feel good about ourselves and not be concerned how others will perceive it.

I am forever on a journey of discovering what I like and dislike, but I am finding it out for myself and basing it off of my personal feelings and opinions. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for flattering your figure and accentuating your best features, but play around until YOU like what YOU see.

Moral of the story: Do your thang’ girl! Stay true to yourself and what you like.

The other day I came across a post on instagram (I cant remember who posted it or I would give credit where it’s due) about how body positivity and self-love is not always easy. I have to say, I concur 100 percent! It does not matter if you are big, tall, skinny, or short-  self-image can be a trip! Sometimes you think you are smaller than you are, sometimes you think you are bigger than you are. It is almost like we have a distorted view of ourselves.

To be honest, I am hella (yes I am using “hella”) stepping out of my comfort zone in this look. My confidence comes in waves, it comes and it goes. Everyone has something on his or her body that he or she would like to change, which is fine, but try not to obsess over it.

I would have never worn something that showed my stomach or back fat a couple of years ago when I was 10-15 pounds smaller. Since discovering  the body positive, self love, feminism, fashion, and style blogging community I have found an extra boost of confidence and pride. If you are in pursuit of self-confidence/self-love or inspiration, check these ladies out, I love them! What do you do when you are in need of a confidence boost or inspiration?

I finally decided to get my lazy a** dressed. I was seriously in a slump, I had no motivation or inspiration to get dressed.  I’ve decided I have OCD in some form or another. It is insane how I will obsess over what to wear for photos! I overwhelm myself with trying to make everything perfect. If it is not exactly how I imagine it, I get so mad at myself for not executing the look. After taking these photos I wanted to kick myself in the you know what for getting worked up about nothing! I need to remember to relax, go with the flow, and do what I love to do.

If you find yourself in a rut as I was, try cleaning, seriously! Last weekend, I did a little deep cleaning, I found the cutest desk, chair, and dresser for my office/dressing room. I scrubbed the walls, rearranged furniture, and burned the best smelling lilac candle from Bath & Body Works. My honey picked up a clothing rack that I was in desperate need of to help separate what I am going to take pictures in apart from the mound of clothes overflowing on a bench at the foot of the bed AKA the “abiss”. I also picked up a clothes steamer ( I hate ironing) and a teeth whitening kit.

My point of all this is to say if you are feeling down or in a rut, do something for yourself that is good for the soul. Cleaning as much as I hate the thought of it, once you start, feels good and the end result is even better. This is something I am just learning. Self maintenance/hygene such as teeth whitening, waxing, exercising, eating healthy food, pedicures, getting your hair done, etc. is a great way to snap out of it. It feels good and helps you get in tune and intimate with yourself. A little self intimacy never hurt anyone, right? What do you do when you are looking for a little “pick me up”? Please share.

Side note:
I love, love, love, mid century cinder blocks, they are the perfect background for pictures. To me, it is very “Los Angels” circa 1950-1960.

P.S My boyfriend bought tickets this weekend to the Beyonce and Jay-z “On The Run” tour! I am geeked and of course freaking about what to wear!

Happy Monday, guys.
